Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or
bodywork inadvisable? -
Yes. That's why it's imperative that, before
you begin your session, the practitioner asks general health questions. It
is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems
or medications you are taking. Depending on the condition, approval
from your doctor may be required.

What if I am Pregnant? - If you are in your first (1st) trimester a
massage
IS NOT performed.  During your second (2nd) and third (3rd)
trimesters massage can be performed in the normal position or sideline.

First Visit: If this is your first visit to Mass-ahhh-ge by the Lake, please
arrive 15 minutes early to fill out a confidential health questionnaire and
customer profile that will allow us to provide you with the service and
results you are seeking.

Can I request a therapist? – Yes, you can request a male or female
therapist (if available), or a therapist who has worked with you
previously.

Do I have to have the same therapist when I come in again? – No,
you can always ask to try a different therapist.

Can I get an appointment for the same day? – Sometimes. If we have
an opening, we will certainly try to accommodate your needs. Same day
appointments are subject to room, time and therapist availability.

How much notice is needed to schedule an appointment? – Normally,
24 hours, but a few days to a week is helpful, especially if there is more
than 1 person or you need a very specific time or day.

Do I need to bring anything? – NO, we will have everything needed
for your massage. (Lake cruise (pontoon boat)  massages require
wearing your own bathing suit or sports attire.)

Should I tell the Therapist anything? – Yes, please tell the therapist
why you are getting the massage, if you have particular areas of tension
or just for relaxation. Also, if you have any allergies – (fragrance or
nuts), any special medical conditions.

What if I am not comfortable during the massage? – Please tell your
therapist. If you are cold, warm, the pressure is to heavy or not heavy
enough, the music is too loud, etc. Our goal is for you to enjoy your
massage session.  A session can be terminated at any time during the
massage if necessary.

What should I expect if it is my first massage? – You will be lying on
a heated massage table, there will be low lighting, candlelight, and soft
music playing. You will be draped by a sheet and blanket, the therapist
will un-drape your arm, leg or back while massaging it and then re-
drape each area when the massage of that area is complete.

Will I be unclothed? – We suggest that you disrobe to your level of
comfort. You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and
comfortable. Your therapist will leave the room while you disrobe and
get on the table,
under the sheet and blanket. Your modesty and
privacy is respected at all times.

What will the massage or bodywork feel like? -
A relaxing Swedish
massage is often a baseline for clients. In a general Swedish massage,
your session may start with broad, flowing strokes that will help calm
your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body
becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific
areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. An unscented cream
(BioTone or Lotus Touch) is used to allow your muscles to be massaged
without causing excessive friction to the skin. The cream also helps
hydrate your skin (but will not stain your clothing). You should
communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so another
approach may be taken. Massage and bodywork are most effective when
your body is not resisting.

How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session? - Most
people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term
aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an
initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience
increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which
can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during
a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your
massage.
